Etihad Airways Launches Wi-Fly Inflight Internet and Mobile Connectivity Service

Today Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways launches its new Wi-Fly inflight internet and mobile connectivity service. The new service is powered by Panasonic Avionics Global Communications Suite.

Etihad's Wi-Fly inflight high-speed broadband internet and mobile phone services will be initially available on one of the airline's Airbus A330-200 planes. The aircraft is used on long-haul routes such as Brussels, Dublin, Manchester, Munich, Frankfurt and Milan.

James Hogan, Etihad Airways President and Chief Executive Officer, announced that by the end of Q1 2013, there will be 10 Etihad Wi-Fly-equipped aircraft. And by the end of 2014, every single Etihad Airways aircraft will be equipped for inflight connectivity.

Etihad Airways plans to outfit all narrow-body aircraft with data and mobile phone connectivity. All wide-body aircraft will be additionally equipped for broadband Internet services.

The new Etihad Wi-Fly service will be offered to all guests and will be complimentary for Etihad Airways' Diamond First Class guests. Mobile telephone usage charges will be based on the international roaming rates of the guests' mobile network providers.
