The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque has 82 domes of 7 different sizes. The largest dome is 85 m (279 ft) high and has a diameter of 32 m (106 ft).

Men and women are not separated in the mosque. Women, however, have to cover themselves while on grounds of the mosque. The black abayas (headscarves) are provided to female visitors at the entrance of the mosque.

A funny fact about the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque: Normally, you have to take off your shoes and leave them at the mosque entrance. However, it would be impossible to find your own shoes, with thousand of visitors daily. So the mosque management has come up with a practical solution. You get a plastic bag to carry your shoes around.
